It Was The Best Of Times...

… it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to heaven, we were all going direct the other way - in short, the period was so far like the present period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only.

Charles Dickens, "A Tale of Two Cities"

That sums up 2007; the best of times (the founding of Happy Clam Island, the news of the oh oh-lets) and the worst of times (on a personal level at least; starting with the last of the eldest generation of my family leaving us, flooding and the uphill struggle to get things straight again, the usual trials and tribulations of life)

I for one believe that this year, 2007, has truly marked something of a turning point. I've seen so many people start to really be concerned for the world around them; and it's the sort of people who you'd have previously thought were the least likely to be turned onto sustainability. I've still got some ways to go to persuade my parents, however…

So here's to 2007; Goodbye To All That!

And Welcome to 2008…it's going to be a truly remarkable year.
